This paper presents a study of modal analysis
using vibration technique of mild steel and aluminium. The measurement of the modal frequencies is based on frequency response function (FRF). The relationship between the natural frequencies extracted from
vibration data and the mechanical properties of material is identified. LMS Test Xpress and impact hammer were utilized as the acquisition system. The result obtained
successfully shows the correlation between the vibration signal captured and the mechanical properties of material. Therefore, a system with a capability in
predicting and estimating the mechanical properties of material is possible to be developed in future works.
