Single-phase transformer with symmetrical AC output
Abstract
Loads connected to electricity supply systems may be broadly categorized as either linear or non-linear. Non-linear loads are any loads which draw current which is not sinusoidal. The transformer is one of the most common nonlinear elements in power systems. The nonlinearity is caused by the magnetizing characteristic of the transformer iron core. In computing of transformer losses, it is assumed that the source voltage is sinusoidal and load impedance is linear. In this work, the transformer is connected to a power electronic circuit that provides the symmetrical ac output and the performances of this transformer will be comparing with sinusoidal source. This project will be focus on the performances of a single-phase transformer with sinusoidal source and symmetrical ac output and the effects of harmonics due to power, power factor and harmonic contents. For comparison needs, the work also is done with sinusoidal output and specified load.
