Design and development of Shredder machine for compost fertilizer production
Abstract
Since years ago till now, the communities especially in Malaysia are not shows their interest in recycling activities and not get attention from them. For example, when we go to the market or any place that sell wet stuffs, we always saw the decayed vegetables that was separated between the good one and the unused vegetables. Have we ever thought that where all the unused vegetables are thrown and sent for or what did they do with that vegetables waste? In order to accept the government campaign, a machine will be designed to shred and cut all these unused vegetables and dry leaves into small size so that it can be used in making the compost fertilizer. When the initial size of the wastes things can be shred and cut into the small sizes, so the time taken of the compost fertilizer making process will be shorter than before besides we can recycling
them. It takes about two weeks to fabricate this shredder machine and costing about RM
400. But this is cheaper than the price of the existing products in the markets which is sell around RM 1500 to RM 2000 based on its brand and its functionality. This machine has a blade shaft and using the electric motor as the power source to rotate. There are three main parts of this shredder machine; a hopper which we load the unused vegetables and shred through it, a container that use to collect the shredded vegetables, and a base frame to hold the hopper and container. The prototype that was developed in this project is a shredder machine that fully functions and meets the features like we want in the early of the research.
