The effect of additives to the TiO₂ thin film by sol-gel method for solar energy application
Abstract
This research was study the effect of additives to the TiO₂ thin film by sol-gel method for solar energy application. Titanium dioxide thin films were analysed using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and UV-Visible Spectroscopy. Two different additive was added into titanium dioxide sol which is Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) and Diethanol amine (DEA) to study their effect to TiO₂ thin film. The effect of additives will effect the result of XRD, SEM, and UV-vis. For analysis process, three different annealing temperature at 300ºC, 400ºC, and 500ºC was used. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) show the surface morphology depend on type of additives added into TiO₂ solution and the different annealing temperature. The XRD result analysis will confirm the existence of titanium dioxide and additive composition phase. The UV-visible spectroscopy used to analyze the optical properties of titanium thin film by study their transmittance and absorbance rate.
