Effect of sintering parameter on the densification and mechanical properties of microwave sintered copper
Abstract
This project is conducted to analyze Effect of sintering parameter on the densification and mechanical properties of microwave sintered copper. This project used design of experiment to design experiment run, analyze the responses and to obtain the optimum sintering parameter. The metal powder will undergo sintering process and analyzed for microstructure, shrinkage, density, hardness and compression strength. It was found that all the chosen sintering factors have
significant effects on the densification and mechanical properties. Microstructure of higher
temperature show finer grain size. Shrinkage, density, hardness and compression strength
increases as sintering temperature is increases. From optimization analysis, the optimum
parameter to achieve best densification and mechanical properties of microwave sintered
aluminum powder would be at 800°C for sintering temperature
