dc.description.abstract | Magnetic Levitation (Maglev) Systems have gained considerable interest due to their great practical importance in many engineering fields. Maglev technology has been receiving increasing attention because it helps eliminate frictional losses due to
mechanical contact. Some engineering applications include high-speed maglev trains, magnetic bearings, coil gun and high-precision platforms. Assorted researches have done in this field. One of them is a maglev train which is used the magnetic field strength concept. This maglev train was used in Japan, Jerman and etc. This thesis studies on the maglev system used using the laboratory maglev system, ED-4810. The studies covered the non-linear, feedback characteristics and also the effect of the system with controller. The value of the current and distance between steel ball supporter and the magnet coil must be able to adjust. This is important to get the stable system. After that, a mathematical model that represents the actual system was build using the MATLAB/SIMULINK program. With this program the effect of different ball size can be seen by evaluated graph. Based on the basic concept of magnetic field, a maglev demonstrator was build to make sure the demonstrator can function similarly to the ED-4810 maglev system. At the end of this thesis, one conclusion has been made which is a stable maglev system can be obtained if a linear system with feedback and controller such as PD, PI and PID include on it. | en_US |
