Ergonomics improvement in CATIA Computer Lab at School of Manufacturing
Abstract
This project is discussed about the ergonomics improvement in the computer laboratory
CATIA. Ergonomics is a design of equipment that fits human. This includes equipment,
furniture, environmental and others. Based on the survey of 100 respondents, some
ergonomics problems have been detected. Analysis of the problems is done using the
RULA method which the result stated that further investigation is needed and changes
may be required. This results shows that the lack of ergonomics in the lab is medium
and moderate but the improvements still need to be done for comforts and to avoid
ergonomic health problems in the long term. Chairs and tables that been measured are
still in the size range of the recommended standard. From the survey also found that
most of the respondents have problem with equipment compared with other factors, but
still in low and medium state. Some suggestions for the improvement are proposed. for
example for the chair, need to change the backrest and add armrest. New design for
chair and table has been proposed by using the anthropometric data on UniMAP’s
students.
