dc.description.abstract | Libraries are a fast growing application of RFID; the technology promises to relieve repetitive strain injury, speed patron self-checkout, book drop, and make possible comprehensive inventory. Unlike supply-chain RFID, RFID library requires item-level tagging, thereby raising immediate patron privacy issues. The system will feature RFID tags and readers. The aims of the project are to design and develop management software using VB.Net and Microsoft SQL Server 2005, which will incorporate RFID technology. Passive tag and RFID system 13.56 MHz frequency range been used because it is found most suitable for this purpose and this frequency has worldwide approval. An anti-theft system is a device or method used to prevent the unauthorized book and item taken out from library. Book drop module offers unprecedented flexibility and convenience of returning library items at anytime of the day, even when the library is closed. Book finder is one of the search engines that search over the library books easy and faster. Real time inventory is an accurate inventory, this system will reduce human intervention where RFID allows tracking and real time inventory automatically without needing people to count data or scan barcodes. In addition, manual inventory system is used to look up into the specific area and more details about number of books. Selfcheck is one of the modules that let user check out book by him self easily and faster. Without the registration module the entire above module cannot function because the entire the process cannot work without data. | en_US |
