Bubble columns (BCs) are widely used in chemical, petrochemical, and biochemical process industries as gas liquid contactors and as reactors due to their relative ease of operation and good interphase mixing characteristics. In this paper, Experimental measurement of gas holdup was carried out in a perspex bubble column of 10 cm diameter and 1.5 m length with a perforated plate gas distributor, for three miscible liquid mixtures (hexane–ethanol, hexan-toluene, and ethanol-toluene) as the liquid phase in full range concentrations (0-100% wt), and air as the gas phase. The gas holdup for a mixture were found to be higher than those for pure component and exhibited a maximum value in a specific concentration for each mixture.
