The design and implementation of the vehicle monitoring system based an remote cellular control compose of three primary components which includes GPS module, cell phone and DSP board 57xx series. The DSP processor (TI) is used as the main control module. The DSP board interfaces with the cell phone via UART daughter card. The system operates based on the SMS where the caller will request to perform specific task to this system. The GPS module that supports NMEA-C813 data format has been designed and integrated with the DSP processor to receise the GPS fix (vehicle location) of the vehicle for every 1 second. This GPS data is sent to the and used who requests his vehicle location via GSM network. Besides providing the vehicle location, this system is also able to control the functionalities of the vehicle such as unlock or lock the door, turn on and off handlight, immobilize the car and turn on and off the engine.
