This paper describes the specification and hardware design of USM-ROV I, a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) designed and developed in the USM Robotics Research
Group (URRG) laboratory, funded by FELDA. Remotely operated vehicle (ROV) is a machine operated from a host. The mechanical, hardware and controller design are the thrust of this project. The implementation is designed to allow for multiple sensor configurations specified as add-ins. This leads to a dynamic, scalable and flexible system that can be easily configured according to the user specifications. A frame-based design is therefore chosen.
