The ability to identify and predict future needs of an organization is very important. Studying and understanding current pattern of scheduling manpower and its requirements will enable human resource manager to outline strategies to allocate sufficient manpower for their business operations. It is very crucial to have the correct number of needed manpower mainly to reduce cost. Thus, this paper is written based on a research on the optimization of manpower conducted in a sugar factory that involves full time and part time workers in a shif environment workplace. Linear programming models were formulated using the optimization approach to attain the solution. Limitation and suggestions for future studies are fowarded.
