In this project, thermoplastic composite of Polypropylene (PP)/ Recycled Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBRr)/Sago were investigated. NBRr and sago were grinded using the grinding machine and were sieved to the size of 150-300 μm. All the samples were mixed according to the ratio using the heated two roll mill at temperature of 180 OC. Then, using hot press machine (at 180 OC), samples with 1mm thick was produced. Then, dumbbell shaped sample is produced for research purposes (mechanical properties, chemical properties and thermal analysis). To differentiate the results, PPMAH was added during mixing process. PPMAH act as compatibilizer that improved the adhesion between cellulosic filler (sago) and polymer matrix (PP & NBRr). Mechanical properties of the composites showed the decrease of PP loading and increase of NBRr loading, the lower the tensile strength and Young’s modules. While the elongation at break is increasing due to NBRr weight percent is increase (decreasing stiffness of composites). With compatibilizer (PPMAH) there is a better chemical reaction between PP/NBRr/Sago composites as PPMAH improve the adhesion between sago and PP/NBRr bonding. While for thermal analysis, decrease in PP loading and increase in NBRr loading caused the T0 and Tdeg increasing, while the percentage total loss decreasing. With the presence of PPMAH, value of Tdeg is higher than without the PPMAH, and it is vice versa to the percentage total loss. Overall results show the performance of composites (PP/NBRr/Sago) with the presence of PPMAH as compatibilizer on composites was better than the absence of PPMAH on the PP/NBRr/sago composites.en_US
