Dr. Khairul Nizar Ismail and his team won gold at International Warsaw Invention Show (IWIS), 30th - 31st May 2007 at Warsaw, Poland.en_US
The main aim of this research was to produce lightweight aggregates which can be used as replacement for normal (natural) aggregates in structural concrete. Rice Husk Ash, Fly Ash and Quarry Dust was the main raw materials used in these study. Approximately 0.5 million tonnes per annum rice husk readily available in Malaysia. It is among the wastes which create disposal and environmental degradation problems. Lightweight aggregates produced from this wastes, are low density aggregates, strong and reduce the dead weight and material handling costs for construction work.en_US
