Understanding and implementation of Outcome Based Education (OBE)
Abstract
Outcome Based Education is a method of curriculum design and teaching that focuses on what learners can actually do after they are taught and it is instructional process is a reverse of that associated with the traditional educational planning. Although the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) published manual listed the generic attributes for graduates, little effort was made to ensure engineering school appreciate and implement it. The level of understanding and implementation toward Outcome Based Education and Continual Quality Improvement need to be assessed in order to achieve to objectives for this research. The assessment and evaluation has been conducted from the primary and secondary data in order to determine the level of every
aspect that has been assessed. Level of understanding and implementation among the academic staffs are moderate based on the weighted mean achievement which mean that academic staffs are have an understanding toward the method and implement it in their teaching process. In order to enhance the knowledge and practice toward the Outcome Based Education, the continual quality improvement toward skills and cooperation among the academic staffs in teaching process need to be increased. The significant of this research is it can be helpful to the academic staff, students and the stakeholders’ that influenced by the Outcome Based Education process.
