dc.description.abstract | Road accidents have caused many deaths and injuries among students from age of 7 to
24. The main purpose of this research was to assess the road safety management around
school in Kangar. Action checklist and survey forms which were related to each other
were done for the inspections during peak and non-peak hours. Hazard Identification,
Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) model were done for primary, secondary
and tertiary school according to action checklist and survey forms. All the inspections
and HIRARC were referred to related acts and regulations that are available in Malaysia
so that the assessments are correct. Then, questions from the survey form were
tabulated using SPSS software. Three questions from survey form were tested using
ANOVA. The null hypothesis for ANOVA analysis is the means among three schools
are not equal and alternative hypothesis is the means among three schools are equal. To
reject null hypothesis, p-value that has been analyzed must be less than 0.05 and vice
versa. New management plan such as hire traffic warden was suggested for each school
and road crossing methods by different ages of students were compared. Generally,
secondary and tertiary students are more matured in making decisions compared to
