The study was focusing the effects of magnesium addition on corrosion behaviour of PM Al composite. The corrosion behaviour between PM Al composite reinforced with short
fibres alumina Saffil™ with and without 2 wt% of magnesium was compared. The corrosion behaviour was measured by using electrochemical test and immersion test in
3.5 wt% NaCl aqueous solution. Electrochemical test was carried out with apply potentiostat Gamry G300 to create polarization curve. Immersion test was conducted for 84 days and mass change curves were examined. PM Al composites with 2 wt% of
magnesium addition were found better corrosion resistance compared to PM Al composites without magnesium. The mass changes of both specimens decreased with the
expose time.
