    Abstract
Malaysia as a major exporter of oil palm with a wide planted area of more than 3.9 million hectares in year 2005 created more than 51 million tonnes of oil palm wastes particularly the empty fruit bunch, frond and trunk. The evaluation of the adsorption potential of elaeis guineensis fronds with methylene blue and brilliant green dyes was studied. The effect of various initial dye concentrations, particle size and equilibrium time for the removal of dye through adsorption process was studied. The adsorption studies were carried out at different particle size ( 0-150μm, 150-212 μm, 212-300 μm, 300-425 μm), different dye concentration (100mg/L-500mg/L), and different dosage (0.1g-0.5g). The experimental data were analyzed by the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. The Freundlich model agreed very well with the experimental data. The maximum monolayer of adsorption capacity obtains from Langmuir model was 200 mg/g with R2, 0.978. The pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order were used to describe a kinetics data. The adsorption of kinetics of Methylene blue and palm oil fronds was described by pseudo-second-order.
