Dolomite is a yellowish colored rock that can be found abundantly in Perlis. The rock has been used traditionally either to cover the rural road before it is tarred or to normalize the soil before any crops is planted. Perlis is one of the major producers of dolomite in Malaysia that content large deposit of high-purity dolomite [CaMg(CO3)2]. Pure samples of dolomite recently explored in the Koperasi Rimba Mas Kubang Tiga Quarry were investigated for their physical, chemical and mineralogical composition. The data on the stability of the dolomite is now becomes important since the information can help other researchers to understand the dolomite behavior. XRF and XRD analysis method were applied in this study. For a comparison, the same experiments were also being done to dolomite from Ipoh. XRD was performed in this paper to study the stability of Perlis dolomite when it was heated to 800 OC, 900 OC and 1000 OC. The XRD diffractograms show that the Perlis’ dolomite is more stable
than dolomite from Ipoh.
