Safety & security on digital information

Abstract

The fast technological developments in recent years, especially in the field of Telecommunication, Multimedia and Digital technology, have fundamentally changed the way we generate, collect, organize, present and dissemination of information. Every human being dealing with information is turning himself towards process and present information in digital format. One side the information technology have lots of advantages such as easy access, world wide availability at one place, 24X7X365 accessibility etc., the other side it has few draw backs like data hacking, destroying, infected, virus etc.. Safeguard and security of information is most important aspect in this digital environment. Most of the libraries/documentation Centres/Resources Centres are engaged in converting its collection from conventional to digital format but face many hurdles related to security of information. For longer use of digital information and its sustainability, safety and security measures are also required. This paper describes tools and techniques for safety and security of digitized and electronic information such as properties of securities, factors and the precautions.
