Knowledge management is usually applied to organizational knowledge system, and the fact that personal knowledge is the basis of corporate and institutional knowledge management is sometimes overlooked. The value of the personal knowledge is not only a valuable personal intangible asset for individuals, but can also contribute to organizational use if properly instructed. This paper first clarifies the relationship amongst date, information and knowledge to build a theoretical foundation, then briefly introduces personal knowledge management (PKM) and its six phases. Based on this, the emphasis is placed on how to manage personal knowledge in the context of organizations.
