Design of digital control frequency sinusoidal wave generator for dielectric analyzer
Abstract
The dielectric analyses are usually
done using capacitance measurement technique. A
set of sinusoidal wave frequency are applied to the
capacitance. This paper is about the design of
digital control frequency of sinusoidal wave
generator that will be one of the main parts of
dielectric analyzer. The ranges of the frequency
are from 1 Hz until 100 kHz. This design is
consist of three main parts. First is the triangle
generation circuit. Second is the triangle to sine
wave conversion circuit, and the third part is the
amplification circuit. The output frequency of
sinusoidal wave is depending on the input clock.
Combination of up and down counter with digital
to analog converter will produce the triangle
wave. The triangle is then converted to sinusoidal
wave. Two methods for triangle to sinusoidal
wave conversion will be compared in this paper.
The total harmonic distortion (THD) of both
method output will be measure to make sure witch
method is suitable in the design. Lastly, the output
sinusoidal wave will be amplified through the
amplification circuit. Simulation process will be
done to demonstrate the design effectiveness.
