Solvent free extraction for Neem oil
Abstract
Solvent free extraction is a new alternative for the extraction process of oil. This technique can be applied to any volatile chemical compounds that can be extracted as oil such as neem, lemon and moringa tree. It works on the principal that substance or material boiling point temperature can be lowered when the pressure inside the system is reduced. The material can be boiled and distilled, without any decomposition, at temperature much below its normal boiling point and without using solvent. At the receiver flask, it is maintained at cold environment by liquid nitrogen or by any means. Condensation vapour inside the distillation flask to be receiver occurs due to the difference in temperature condition at both sides. The process involves distilling the material without solvent to obtain the oil. Finally, the oil’s composition is analysed by separating its constituents using Gas Chromatography. Neem oil that extracted for six hours has the highest amount of component.
