The winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) also known as goa bean is a tropical legume plant that grown almost in Southeast Asia and Papua New Guinea. The seed is has a content of high protein and as potential food sources for the tropics. The plant is type of climbing stem and leaves are up to 3-4 m long, it scramble over the ground and twine into other vegetation for support. This project aims to develop the performance and potential of winged bean plant with different stages occur in phenology growth using chosen growing media and the water holding capacity . The study was conducted for 9 weeks at Bioprocess Faculty. The media used were potting mix and topsoil with NPK green fertilizer, seed germination liquid and insect repellent spray are applied as protection and help development plant growth. There are twelve pot of winged bean plant and each growing media has six pot. The parameters studied were the height of the plant and the number of leaf. Result obtained during experiment are compared by using water holding capacity method and showed that topsoil have 40% while, potting mix have 35% of water holding capacity. Moreover, the regression analysis was indicated that potting mix in winged bean plant by plant height and leaf number had the closes R² value which is 0.99 and 0.95. Lastly, the effect of potting mix and topsoil in winged bean crop can be significantly difference in phenology growth curve by the plant height where it reach until the reproductive phase. Thus, linear regression significantly correlated to growth parameter.en_US
