Web based decision support system for computer buyers using Bayesian’s technique
Abstract
There are varieties of computer brands in the market where each of the brands
posses their own features. Therefore, computer buyers have to think about the price, quality, performance and requirement of the computer when they are planning to purchase a computer from the Internet. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effectiveness of a web based decision support (WBDS) system to help the computer buyer in making a decision before purchasing a computer package. The Bayesian technique has been used to generate decision which is the list of computer packages based on user’s requirements. One of the advantages
using the Bayesian technique is its effectiveness in calculating the probability results although the inputs data is always change. The results returned by the WBDS based on the Bayesian technique have been measured by comparing the list of a computer components’ which refer to the user’s requirement. The finding shows that the WBDS system has returned the results which are related to the proposed computer package that exactly meet the user’s requirements
such as price, type of usage and environment.
