dc.description.abstract | Development of hillside areas has seen an increased these last few decades,
especially in urban residential area hence indirectly trigger the slope stability
problem. This study focus on influence on slope stability for factors such as; angles
of slopes, soil type, inclination of nail, spacing between nails, length of nail, addition
of external surcharge load on safety factor of the slope and usage of different code
of practice. Software SLOPE/W was used for the slope stability analysis. The result
obtained shows that safety factor decreases when steepness of slope increases, soil
with bigger cohesion value gives better FOS. Safety factor is at maximum at soil
nail optimum inclination and it depends on slope angle. Also reducing spacing
increases the FOS and increasing length of soil nail will increase the stability and
addition of surcharge will decrease FOS significantly. | en_US |
