Properties of steel fiber reinforced concrete with different length of steel fiber
Abstract
Currently in concrete technology is booming to improve the quality and properties of concrete. There are various additives that can strengthen the concrete. Additional materials include the use of steel fibers into the concrete mix. With the used of steel fibers it can enhance the strength of the concrete. Tests have been conducted on the properties of steel fiber reinforced concrete with different percentages of steel fibers to obtain high compressive strength. There are two types of steel fibers used in this study were 33 mm and 50 mm length of steel fiber. Percentage of steel fibers was carried out was 0.5%, 1.0% and 1.5%. Each percentage has the three samples to obtain accurate average compressive strength. The size of the mould that was used is 100 mm x 100 mm x 100 mm. The test was conducted to fresh concrete were slump test, compaction test and Vebe test. There are 54 samples are produced. All the sample has been cured in the water for 7th, 14th and 28th days before the compressive strength test were done. The highest compressive strength result for 33 mm steel fibers for 28 days was 46.04 MPa for 1.0% of steel fiber. The highest result of compressive strength of 50 mm steel fibers for 28 days was 34.03 MPa at 0.5% of steel fiber. Based on the compressive strength test showed that the results for the 33 mm long of steel fibers are stronger than 50 mm long of steel fiber.
