Behavior of axially distributed loaded sand brickwall palm oil clinker
Abstract
This project is about the research of behavior distributed axial load on the sand
Palm Oil Clinker (POC) brick wall. In this study, POC bricks were self-made in the
laboratory. There are three samples of the bricks compared which are clay brick, sand
brick and POC brick. The bricks tested using two test to identify strengths which are
compressive strength and flexural strength. Next, this bricks will be arranged to
produce brick walls using cement mortar. Firstly, mortar cubes were produced from a
mortar concrete mixture for using in compression test to determine the strength of the
mortar. Based on the results obtained in this investigation, POC brick recorded the
lowest compressive strength of the three brick and does not meet the minimum
compressive strength of 3.65 MPa for brick and 0.389 MPa flexural strength.
Compressive strength of mortar cubes was increased with increasing the curing
period. The conclusion that can be conclude about the behavior of the distributed axial
loaded sand brick wall palm oil clinker is brick produced using POC aggregate cannot
be used as a brick in the construction industry due to the compressive strength is not
achieved the minimum of standard brick compressive strength.
