One of the great environmental challenges facing nowadays is the disposal of worn out automobile tires. To overcome this global problem, several studies had been made to examine the various applications of recycled used tires including in the construction field. For example, the use of recycled rubber chips in asphalt concrete, thermal incineration of waste tires for the production of electricity or as fuel for cement kiln. Tire rubbers were treated with Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) before added to concrete as it can modify the surface of the rubber and increase the adhesion with cement paste. The percentages of tire strip added during this research are 0% as control, 10%, 20% and 30%. 15 cubes will be cast for every set of samples. Based on the result obtain, the optimum ratio to produce rubber reinforced concrete is addition of 30% of rubber that treated with NaOH as replacement of coarse aggregate. This sample achieved the compression strength of 26.90 MPa, which only 16.53% lower than the conventional sample at the age of 28 days. This sample is 29.60% higher when compare with concrete contain rubber without treated with NaOH. Tire rubbers reinforced concrete can advantageous compared to conventional concrete as the demand are increasing in the construction field.en_US
