dc.description.abstractThis project presents about development blind spot detector of automobile. Blind spot in the context of driving an automobile are the areas of the road that cannot be seen while looking forward or through either the rear-view or side mirrors. Vehicles in the adjacent lanes of the road may fall into these blind spot, and a driver may be unable to see them using only the car's mirrors. An accident or near accident would occur if the driver fails to aware of another vehicle existence within a blind spot area. This project involves two major parts. First part involves a survey on an awareness of blind spot phenomena among Malaysian drivers. Next is to investigate by experiments a blind spot area and angle that suit for average Malaysian driver’s based on body size. The data obtained from this project is useful to drivers for an example to further develop devices that can alert when other vehicles within the blind spot area. The method apply in this project can also be adapted to determine blind spot area for all automobile type. Furthermore, information obtained from this project also useful to promote awareness on blind spot among the driver as well as contributing to reduce road accidents.en_US
