Image processing technique consists of five basic components which are image acquisition, image preprocessing, image segmentation, and image postprocessing and image analysis. One of the common image processing techniques is segmentation using region based approach. The current study went one step further by utilizing the combination of dark stretching algorithm and saturation formula to determine the suitable threshold value. After that the modified algorithm is called seeded region growing area extraction (SRGAE), is use to extract the area for acute leukemia blast cells. Experimental results indicate that the proposed modified SRGAE is successfully segmented and distinguished the area of the blast for AML and ALL from the complicated background and unwanted noise.en_US
