The Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) includes a diverse group of clonal and potentially malignant bone marrow disorders characterized by ineffective and inadequate hematopoiesis [1]. Classically, French-American-British (FAB) scheme have been used as a tools to classify the subtypes of MDS. Nonetheless, due to some limitations, a recent re-classification proposal sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) has been made to overcome the limitations. Current data obtained suggest that MDS patients developed a clear dysplasia in all three myeloid lineages (erythroid, granulocytic and megakaryotic). Future works should be done in improving the screening of the MDS and in developing automated system based on the blood smear or bone marrow to provide better and accurate outcome.en_US
