dc.description.abstract | Perlis dolomite or locally known as ‘batu reput’ in state of Perlis explored in Koperasi Rimba Mas Padang Besar Quarry while Ipoh dolomite is a dolomitic limestone provided by Ipoh Seramic Sdn. Bhd.. Perlis is one of the major producers of dolomite in Malaysia that content large deposit of high purity dolomite [CaMg(CO3)2]. In this paper, the morphology of both dolomite surface and chemical composition was studied by using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) which is equipped with an Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) from JEOL model JSM-6460LA. The fracture morphology of both dolomites showed brittle behavior with elongated and irregular grains embedded on the surface. The chemical composition in EDS technique show Perlis dolomite do not decomposed such as Ipoh dolomite after heating stage at 800 °C. | en_US |
