dc.description.abstract | Aquaculture industry is one of the industries that important to the user. In this industry, there is one major problem, wastewater. Aquaculture wastewaters normally contain high Nitrate, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Phosphorous, Ammonia-nitrogen and Suspended Solid (SS). These pollutants are harmful to environment if they are discharged without treatment. One of the treatments is using constructed wetland because based on the study; constructed wetland has high efficiency in treating the wastewater with low cost in operating and maintenance. In this study, two types of constructed wetland were used, subsurface flow system (SSF) and free water surface (FWS) to treat the aquaculture wastewater. Two types of plant were choose; Limnocharis flava and Eichhornia crassipes. These constructed wetland was evaluated for two weeks with two lab scaled model systems. Constructed wetland without plant used for control. These two lab scaled systems use to measure and to see the efficiency. The removal efficiency for experiment (use plant) is Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) (82.5 %), Phosphorous (73.33 %), Nitrate (84.21 %), Ammonia-nitrogen (98.5 7%) and Total suspended solid (TSS) (84 %). The nutrient uptake by the plant was measured for analysis. | en_US |
