Hydrogen production mechanism from biological waste: an overview
Abstract
Presently, hydrogen has been widely recognized as the fuel of future that will feature as a promising alternative energy source to substitute fossil fuels. Among the various method of hydrogen production, biological hydrogen production processes are found to be more environmental friendly, less energy intensive and simultaneous waste treatment. This article summarizes hydrogen production mechanisms from biological waste including types of substrate, parameters involved, and hydrogen production enhancement (gas sparging and immobilization technique).
