dc.description.abstractThe Diesel cycle is a cycle for Compression-Ignition (CI) reciprocating engines. In CI engines (also known as Diesel Engines), the air is compressed to a temperature that is above the auto ignition temperature of the fuel, and the combustion process starts on contact as the fuel is injected into this hot air in the engine pistons. As the combustion continue a heat exchanger need to remove the excess heat. In this project, one radiator in the form of Heat Exchanger for a Diesel (Compression ignition Engine) will be designed, which consists a multi pass flow in shell and tube heat exchanger, with configuration one shell pass and two tube pass. Two cooling sea water temperature will be set to rise from 30°C to 40°C while another from 30°C to 45°C. Different sizes of tube will be use in the multi pass shell and tube heat exchanger to find out which condition paired with which sizes of the tubes the obtain the most optimum result.en_US
