Coagulation-flocculation of leachate using alum (Al₃(SO₄)₃) and ferric chloride (FeCL₃): the effect of coagulant aid
Abstract
This study is about coagulation-flocculation of leachate using alum (Al₃(SO₄)₃) and ferric chloride (FeCl₃) to see the effect of coagulant aid. This treatment is using a main coagulant that is Al₃(SO₄)₃ and FeCl₃ with the addition of bentonite and kaolinite as coagulant aid using coagulation-flocculation method. The parameter that was tested is Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Turbidity, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Ammoniacal Nitrogen (NH4-N). The main purpose of the treatment is to compare performance between Al₃(SO₄)₃ and FeCl₃ with the addition of coagulant aid. In term of main coagulant, performance of Al₃(SO₄)₃ is more better than FeCl₃. After the addition of coagulant aid FeCl₃ showed best performance compare to Al₃(SO₄)₃.
