    Abstract
The rapid urbanization and the increase in population in the recent years limited the land space available and thus, the high rise building has become a more viable option for office and residential housing. For the purpose as stated, this research will be focused on the stability of the building by analyzing the displacement of the building under the consideration of wind induced forces. The research work deals with the study of a seven-storey 2-D steel frame structure with twenty-one-meter in height which is to be idealized as a tall building model. The models had been developed and analyzed by using SAP 2000. In this paper, the different bracing systems which are Single Diagonal bracing, X-bracing, V-bracing and Inverted V-bracing are applied to the analytical models for the analysis of the bracing’s effectiveness on the displacement reduction. The linear and non-linear analysis of the models were carried out to determine the magnitude of non-linear analysis on the displacement of the building. It is learned that the displacement of the building under wind effect is significant and should be considered in the design and analyses of the high-rise building. Research results of the model without bracing system and models with four different bracing systems with and without the effect of wind loading will be described and compared to the displacement of the structures. The displacement results of the linear and non-linear analysis will be compared and to show the significant of both analysis in the structural system of high-rise building in this study. The Inverted V-bracing system was found to be the most effective bracing in order to resist the lateral wind forces with its highest percentage reduction of displacement of 68.59 % and 68.77 % from linear and non-linear analysis respectively.
