    Abstract
    This study discussed about the awareness, understanding and triggers and barriers for implementation of green construction practice at construction site. The increased of construction projects may end up with the negative impact on economic, social and environmental. As a result, construction industry was urged to implement concept and principles of sustainability in order to mitigate these issues. Therefore, it requires construction players to change their conventional construction to new construction method which dubbed as green construction. However, before embarking on these changes, it is important to identify the triggers and barriers in adoption of green construction practice. This study aim to determine the awareness and understanding of green construction, as well as to identify the triggers and barriers of green practice among construction company. This study developed a set of questionnaire to be used as a medium to carry out the investigation among construction companies. The survey has been conducted among 65 construction company and 60 set of questionnaires were duly returned. The data obtained from the survey was analysed by utilize descriptive analysis. Interestingly, the result revealed that the construction company could be classified as ‘good’ understanding in term of green construction practice. However, this study also found that the government played an important role to influence the green construction practice among construction company by addressing cost and time element to accelerate the green construction practice.
