Mechanical alloying (MA) process was used in this research to produce amorphous alloy powder by mixing Al, Ni, Cu powder in the planetary ball mill (pbm) for 8 hours, 16 hours and 24 hours corresponding to the two composition which is Al85Ni10Cu5 and Al85Ni5Cu10 . Powders were mixed together with 10:1 ball-to-powder weight ratios (BPR) and the milling speed was fixed at 200 rpm. MA process was performed using a stainless steel jar and 10 mm diameter of stainless steel balls to prevent cross contamination. X- ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to analyze the Al85Ni10Cu5 powder and Al85Ni5Cu10 powder. From the findings, the particle size of the Al85Ni10Cu5 and Al85Ni5Cu10 powder was decreased with increasing time of milling. However, amorphous phase did not exist. This is proved by X-ray diffraction (XRD).en_US
