Design improvement of cerebral palsy easy carrier
Abstract
This project was to design and improve a cerebral palsy child easy carrier used
when travelling in a vehicle. A seating support which is backrest equip with 5
point harness belt are the main component in this design. The main reason for
designing this carrier is because there is no such equipment in Malaysia which
allows children with cerebral palsy to travel in high safety measure either for a
short or long period of travel. This lead to the main purpose of this project is to
design a product with high safety features with affordable price and to develop a
product which is portable and easy to use. There are few methods were used
along this project. Among the method were used is Quality Function
Deployment (QFD) to find the best solution for the problem based on the
customer needs. Besides that, Pugh Method which is screening and weightage
method which is scoring were used to find the best design. A few analysis for
the design have been carried out to find the best material to use for the child
carrier, the endurance and the probability of the product to be successful.
Moreover, the suitability analysis of the product to be used by the customer was
also been identified by using ergonomics analysis, Rapid upper limb assessment
(RULA) and Rapid entire body assessment (REBA) Analysis.
