Design and fabrication of an explosive compaction apparatus
Abstract
Explosive compaction is the dynamic processes that offer the prospect of producing
the high temperatures necessary for decent local metallurgical bonding at the powder
particle interfaces. The stronger the press, the stronger the material will be. This report is
to produce an explosive compaction apparatus that can generate high power as well as
heavy duty pressing. Boothroyad and Dewhurst system is an orderly strategy to boost the
utilization of the assembling procedure in the outline of parts and to get efficient technique
to amplify the utilization of segments in item outline. EMULEX is used as an explosive
material and use in the small ratio with detonation velocity of 4500 - 5400 m/s.
AUTODYN software is choose for the simulation process. While, the LVDT deflection
sensor that offers high reliability and long life is selected to determine the high pressure
from blast test.
