An experimental study of cement mixture using construction waste
Abstract
This project is conducted to study whether the mixture of cement and construction
waste powder can be a partial replacement of original cement. Due to the increasing of
cement production cost, the cost of cement used by contractors in the construction field
also increased. The objective of this project is to reduce the cost of cement used by
contractors in the construction field and determine whether the mixture able to pass the
European/Malaysian requirement standard. An experiment is carried out for mixture of
cement and construction waste powder in order to produce a sample of mortar cube.
The hammering process, crushing process, residue test, mixing process and also the
compression test is used to determine the strength of the mixture. Contribution of this
project is able to reduce the percentage of original cement used in construction. The
reading obtained proved that this new mixture capable to fulfil the European standard
requirements. In conclusion, this new cement mixture which consists of 90% OPC
cement and 10% construction waste powder can be a new potential cement mixture.
