Study of single phase transformer using QuickField and Epstein test
Abstract
The rising generating cost of electric energy and power losses has resulted in
utilities company requiring manufactures to build more efficient transformer. Therefore,
energy efficient transformer will reduce cost and power losses. The purpose of this project is to simulate power losses and flux on transformer on different types of transformer’s core, selection material and effect of harmonic on transformer. An experiment was conducted at machine design lab called Epstein test. The objective this test is to find out which material have lowest losses for manufacturing transformer’s core. The material used in this test are MOH, HI-B and M5. There are two types core used, “core form” and “shell form” with configuration 450 and 900. This project describe the result from research on material, losses and harmonic on single phase transformer.
