Dual-band textile antenna for 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz application
Abstract
This project is to design a dual band textile antenna which operates in the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequency. Since the development of wearable system has opened the possibilities to integrate antennas into clothing, the performance of the antenna is investigated. The development of textile
systems has altered the concept of clothing. Additionally, the introduction of these textiles has uncovered the need for wireless communication systems that can be integrated into clothing. Lslot and H-slot textile antenna is proposed to be operated at 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz for WLAN applications. The cotton fabric was chosen as antenna substrate because of the softness and
comfortable to wear. The patch is designed using silver plated nylon thread since it has high tensile strength. Nora dell is chosen as conducting material for ground layer due to the ability of resist corrosion. The simulation of the design had been carried out by using Microwave Studio 2014. The H-slot antenna has a simulated gain of 2.738 dB at 2.3246 GHz and 2.674 dB at 5.7566 GHz whereas L-slot antenna has a simulated gain of 2.821 dB at 2.3044 GHz and 2.762 dB at 5.8706 GHz.
