Analysis rain effect in Malaysia environment over FSO transmission performance
Abstract
Free Space Optic (FSO) telecommunication system is an optical communication
technology that uses light propagating in free space to transmit data between two points with applies Line-of-Sight (LOS) system. However this system is vulnerable with variation of air turbulence particles that occurs in atmosphere. In this thesis, it focused on the effect of atmospheric attenuation upon point-to-point FSO linkage. The study carried out in the tropical rainforest climate which the data took from the research that had done. The weather condition take into account to study is about rain which identified potential to impair the FSO linkage system. That many type rain condition such as cloudburst, heavy rain, medium rain, light rain and drizzle. The rainfall occurs in tropical rainforest region almost every day and has a high rain denseness rate. Consequently, rain are able to contribute to high atmospheric attenuation rate. There are two ways to get results this is a theoretical part and simulation part. In theoretical have calculation using formula. The formula is using to find scattering coefficient and rain attenuation. Its also depend raindrops on type quantity of rain. In simulation part, it analyze the effect of attenuation over FSO linkage system with observe the performance of BER Analyzer. The shorter distance point-to-point it can increase FSO performance. Based on this analysis, the good approaches in order to increase and maintain the good quality FSO communication under the tropical rainforest weather are by using the
parameters longer wavelength such as 1550nm, narrow beam divergence, and short distance of FSO.
