Effects os cement and water cement ratio on sand brick by using palm oil clinker
Abstract
This paper investigates the principle effects of cement and water cement ratio on sand
brick and bricks having Palm Oil Clinker (POC) used as replacement of fine sand
aggregates. Palm oil clinker is attained from milling process of Palm oil. The used of POC aggregates as alternative of natural sand aggregates in the construction purpose is important for much reason. If the Palm oil is used for construction purposes will solve the problems of disposal solid waste into the environment and the second most important advantage is the reducing of high consumption of natural aggregates. Only fine aggregates have been used in this research for the manufacturing of both sand brick and Palm oil clinker bricks. Sand fine aggregates were replaced POC fully during the mixing process. It was found that bricks having fully POC bricks absorb more percentage of water compared to fully sand brick and also POC bricks have less compression strength than bricks have natural fine aggregates. The water cement ratio and cement content of both types of bricks have been change to evaluate the effects of cement content and also water cement ratios. The results showed that more cement contents results high compression strength of the final hardened product while high water cement ratio decreases the compression strength of bricks.
