Structural performance on beam with diferent size and spacing of link
Abstract
This report conducted the experimental studies to know the performance on
beam with different size and spacing of link. The objective of this research is to design
beam and reinforcement required for beam using British Standard, to determine the
flexural strength of the beam with different arrangement and size of reinforcement and
to identify crack pattern between different arrangement and size of reinforcement on
beam. Slump test and flexural test had been carried out in order to investigate the
workability, strength and crack pattern of reinforced concrete beam. Four samples will
be test which is 2 samples B6 containing link size 6 mm spacing 150 mm and 2 sample
B8 containing link size 8 mm spacing 200 mm. The fresh concrete mixture will be taken
for the slump test. Then, the concrete will be pour into 1500 mm x 300 mm x 150 mm
formwork. After 28 days, the harden beam will be tested. This experiment have shown
that reinforced concrete beam with different size and spacing of link show considerable
flexural strength increase for reinforced concrete beam with link size 8 mm spacing 200
mm compare to reinforced concrete beam with link size 6 mm spacing 150 mm. In all
cases considerable strength enhancement and crack pattern has been observed. Thus it
can be concluded that reinforced concrete beam with link size 8 mm spacing 200 mm
are more stronger and had more strengthen the reinforced concrete beam with link size 6
mm spacing 150 mm.
