Applications of trans-metals carboxylates, as pro-degradant additives for pastics, have been studied extensively in the recent years. Syntheses of manganese carboxylates and cobalt carboxylates have been done. Characterizations of those materials were also conducted to obtain their essential characteristics. Their characteristics were compared each other. Manganese carboxylates and cobalt carboxylates performed the similar characteristics. Both manganese carboxylates group and cobalt carboxylates group have the good thermal stability. They started to degrade at over 280 °C. It was an advantage since thermal characteristics were very important for additives. It was also found that the thermal stability increase with increasing chain length of manganese carboxylates and cobalt carboxylates.
