    Abstract
The natural banana peel (NBP) was prepared and part of them were treated by using 1M sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy analyses showed that the NBP and ABP have significant difference that contributed to adsorption process. The adsorption activities of NBP and ABP were tested on the removal of methylene blue solution under control condition. ABP shows better adsorption ability than NBP. The effect of operational parameter including initial concentration of dye, dosage of adsorbent and temperature were studied by using ABP. The experiment shows that percentage removal of methylene blue decreases with an increase of initial dye concentration. The percentage removal of methylene blue increases when the dosage of adsorbent increases and decreases when it exceed the optimum dosage. For the effect of temperature on the removal of methylene blue, the removal of methylene blue increases when temperature increases but decreases when the temperature exceed the optimum working condition. The kinetics of removal of methylene blue process of ABP was determined to be pseudo second-order reaction according to the Langmuir-Hinshelwood model at different initial dye concentration.
